Our Outdoor Adventure Program is another way we connect, lead, and inspire our veterans. Our activities in this program give veterans a chance to get outside, recharge, and share in the enjoyment of the outdoors with other veterans.
We offer biking and hiking adventures, as well as whitewater rafting, kayaking, zip-lining, snow tubing, snowboarding and many more free to veterans. All skill levels are welcome, and family events are also available.
The only requirement to participate is to complete the UWS Intake Form and provide UWS with a copy of your military ID, VA ID, or DD214.
No alcohol or guns are permitted on any Outdoor Adventure. Future events will be posted on our Facebook events page and in our monthly newsletter.

The Team River Runner Mission is to provide all veterans and their families an opportunity to find health, healing, community purpose, and new challenges through adventure and adaptive paddle sports!
In 1948, Earl Shaffer told a friend he was going to “walk off the war” to work out the sights, sounds, and losses of World War II. Four months later, Earl Shaffer became the first person to hike the entire length of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. Veterans are geared up and resupplied as they hike the entire Appalachian Trail or paddle a kayak down the Mississippi River. Especially designed for the recently returned combat veterans that are looking for the most extreme adventures.
