We are honored to share that Upstate Warrior Solution is 1 of 80 organizations nationwide selected to partner with the Department of Veterans Affairs through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. The goal of the program is to help organizations like UWS better identify veterans who are at risk for suicide and provide holistic case management in collaboration with the VA.
In the next year, our team plans to screen 1,000 veterans and we anticipate 10 percent will present as at-risk for suicidal ideation. The SSG Fox Program is also enabling us to bring educational opportunities to the community, such as a recent workshop at The Dream Center in Pickens County where nearly 200 people were trained to intervene and prevent suicide.
Reducing and preventing veteran suicide through holistic care has been at the heart of our work for over a decade. The SGG Fox Program is enabling us to continue our life saving work, and we are grateful so many of our local partners have joined our mission to expand critical services for veterans here in the Upstate.
