On August 14, there was a check presentation for the money raised from the Annual Memorial Day Golf Tournament. With the help of generous sponsors (Cintas, Prudential, Northwestern Mutual, IPS Packaging, Blue Ridge Electric Coop, Spartanburg Regional, Wells Fargo, and U.S. Foods), the Cliffs Residents and Upstate Warrior Solution (UWS) raised more than $34,000, benefitting the UWS Family Support Program and helping local warriors. For the check presentation, teams from the Cliffs residents and UWS drove down to the Cliffs Valley and gathered behind the clubhouse. The Cliffs team included Rick Short, Jeff Tyrrell, Mike Wallach, Mike Weitzel, and Sally Radekevich. But other key, Cliffs team members included John Beardon, Hoot Gibson, David Sawyer, Matt Pavia, Mathew Stevens, Shauna Pelfrey, and Jennifer Strom. The UWS team included Kaitlan Morehouse, Elisabeth Schatke, Doug Smith, Nate Moore, Jordan Bolding, and Theresa Thompson. As soon as everyone arrived and introductions were made between UWS and Cliffs teams, photographers and videographers from Fox Carolina, WYFF News 4, News Talk FM, and 106.3 The Word led everyone to the green, to the first hole tee, where the presentation would take place. The photographers and videographers asked Weitzel to say a few words, as he presented the check to UWS and handed it to Moore. After they took pictures, they pulled Moore aside with Smith and Bolding and interviewed Moore about the event.
