Warrior Success Story: Edwin E.

Warrior Success Story: Edwin E.

Edwin enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1980. He was on active duty and worked in the area of field artillery as a private first class, grade E-3. He was honorably discharged in 1983. After his transition out of the Military, he moved back to Spartanburg, SC.

Recently, Edwin was carjacked and reported the incident to the Spartanburg City Police Department.

Because of our partnership, Spartanburg City Police Department called our Upstate Warrior Solution team when they learned Edwin was a veteran so we could offer him further assistance. Our team conducted a needs assessment for Edwin and discovered he needed help with employment and emergency support for basic necessities. UWS provided him with short-term assistance through gift cards and groceries while helping him secure a job interview.

Edwin’s car was eventually recovered by the Spartanburg City Police Department; however, it needed repairs. Our Spartanburg team was able to leverage another community partner, Tire Corral in Spartanburg, to help Edwin get the front-end of his car aligned and two new tires installed.

We are thankful for our partnership with the Spartanburg City Police Department and Tire Corral. We appreciate their commitment to our local warriors. Without them, we would not have been able to connect to and assist this Army veteran.
